The members of the Salish Kootenai College Institutional Review Board are appointed to the IRB by the SKJC President. IRB membership may continue until the individual resigns the membership or is unable to fulfill membership responsibilities.
The Salish Kootenai College Institutional Review Board is comprised of at least five members. SKC seeks to maintain IRB membership that represents a balance of individuals with expertise in research areas commonly pursued at the College as well as members who are able to represent tribal perspectives, with at least one non-scientist and at least one community member not employed by the College.
All IRB members complete CITI training and attend additional trainings held by the IRB. Roles of IRB members include review of submitted protocols, either at convened meetings or according to procedures for exempt or expedited review. IRB members are expected to maintain confidentiality concerning reviewed protocols.
Further information about IRB membership and IRB processes is contained in the IRB Standard Operating Procedures (Updated 2_2019).
